My Story

IRuthie Happy Car Chevy Classic was raised in an Amish home in Central Ohio, until the age of 10, and I have many good memories of that, some of which include driving horse and buggy to my grandparents’ farm, and building teepees with my older sister.

While some kids were playing nintendo, we were playing with horse bits and harnesses, dolls and dirt.

Growing up without t.v. or electricity provided a foundation of creativity and a deep appreciation for simplicity, that has followed me to this day. Being raised in a close-knit community where we all helped each other, still remains one of the best things that ever happened to me.

It taught me early on that life is not about ME and what I can get out of it, it’s about giving. It taught me that I am a key player in someone else’s life, and that I am valued and needed.

So here I am, raising my own family in the wild land of Colorado. Many things have changed…I lost my dad and my baby brother and I fell in love with a boy from Kentucky along the way. We got married, and several years later, Kentucky Boy followed my heart (and a business opportunity!) back to Colorado, which is where my family has lived for many years.

Together, we’ve made two of the cutest babies you’ve ever seen. (Just letting you know, so you’re not caught off guard when you see glowing pictures of them, on this blog.) And we love exploring the world, along with them.

This blog is my discovery of God in the fine print we call “life.” It is my journey into health, from sickness and watching my dad die of cancer. It’s my journey into love, after infidelity, broken trust, and unrealistic expectations of marriage. And of course, the constant adventure of finding happiness, in the everyday moments of life with a spunky little girl and a curious baby boy.

In the end, I realize it’s the little things that make me happy. This blog is proof of that.

And I’m so glad you found me! Thank you for stopping by!

Hi Ruthie are you from Holmes County, Ohio? Was your last name Kauffman and your parents Ada Mae and Adin?

    • Hi Jean! Do you have an email? I would love to discuss a bit of family history with you, perhaps on a more personal format.

  5. Hello Ruthie. Life is so brief and precious, and that is why we try to jam pack it with great memories, adventures and even a few bad experiences. I am sorry for the loss of your dad. Unfortunately it is something we will all experience sooner or later.
Personally my wife and I have been married for 47 very short years. We are still madly in love with each other even though we are not in the best of health and this plays havoc with our daily lives.
I enjoy interacting with other people because this way you can contribute to bring a smile or a laugh to some one who needs it as much as you.

Keep enjoying your life as long as the good lord lets you and keep making us ol fogeys smile.

    • Woww, I appreciate this so much, Rye! Thanks for sharing your story. Peace, hugs and blessings!
