Hello there beauties, I hope you all are staying warm!
Is it just me or did it suddenly turn into the Arctic here in NORTH America??? It’s only been cold in Colorado for a week now and I’m already freezing. I’m already trying to figure out how I’m going to stay warm and happy and at least a little bit active for the next couple months a.k.a. etern-i-ty, while I wait for the clouds to part and for it to be sunny and somewhat WARMish again.
As we all know, ‘warm’ is my favorite season and Winter is not, and if it were up to me, it would never go below 60, but that’s apparently not possible where I live. Apparently we *NEED* this cold to freeze out the bugs and whatever is eating our trees and killing our mountains and I mean, can’t we just spray them?? Can’t we just zap the bugs with some kind of WARM electrolytic tropical mist, and let the people LIVE???
To which Mother Nature replies, “nice wish, punkin” and continues right on her fury path taking my futile attempts and empty wishes right along with her.
Truth is, I wasn’t really ready for this and I’m never really ready for this, but unfortunately Winter don’t wait on nobody to be ready, so I figured I might as well pull on my fuzzy hats and embrace it. I figured since we already have a foot of snow on the ground, and since we are in fact speeding toward the middle of December I might as well show up good and show up IN STYLE for it.
Because let me tell ya, it makes a difference and how we dress affects our mood and so I’m going to dress accordingly and NOT stay in my bed and my unflattering flannels all day and if I’m gonna do this arctic thingy, I’m gonna find a way to look good and feel sexy doin’ it.
So I’m pulling out all the stops and digging out all the cute hats and ALL the cute boots and rocking them all the way to the equator if I have to. I’m putting on my black thigh highs if I gotta trip over snow piles and frozen trikes in the driveway to do it. I’m getting out and going places if I gotta drag 3 babies through a blinding blizzard in 4 inch heels to get there.
I will not let the Winter conquer me.
And who can resist and who can stay cold when you’re wearing something this HOT, anyway???
This is the gospel according to me, and these boots are everything.
And I’m pretty sure they will be the reason I make it through Winter…I heart them. Not to mention I found them at my local Marshalls for 25 bucks, helllo?!? They might as well have been solid gold, they are THAT awesome.
The other thing that’s awesome is this Merrell vest I accidentally picked up in the same trip and have been wearing nonstop since September. I say “accidentally” ‘cuz I wasn’t planning on buying a vest that day and I def wasn’t in the market for one of those high-end, hooty-tooty label ones. I just wanted something that would fit me and keep me warm and not bunch up on my high waist and drive me batto. (is that even a word??)
For real, though. Apparently I have a body that gets lost and trapped and clostraphobic in bulky clothes. I don’t know how it happens but it has and I don’t ask for too much but please don’t bunch up on my hips and slide up my chest and suffocate me, PLEASE.
Stay in your place, thank you.
So I found this one and accidentally tried it on and realized it was perfect and that it didn’t, in fact, wrap itself around my throat and strangle me, so I accidentally bought it and brought it home with me and I’ve been wearing it ever since. I’m so in love with this olive color right now…it’s pretty and earthy and just the right amount neutral, but not too blah. And who knew it would go with literally EVERYTHING I own already???
Velvet boots from Forever.
Faux leather leggings from Old Navy.
All my scarves from everywhere.
And of course this vintage hat I bought in China town, NYC a long time ago.
Btw, is anyone else as excited as I am that beanie hats are baacck?? I kind of adore them actually. Then again I adore anything that makes me not have to CONTROL my frizz-dried Winter hair and that’s stylish and fun aaannnnd that keeps me WARM.
So that’s what I’ll be wearing and that’s how I’ll be
bracing for embracing Winter.
How are you staying warm (and stylish) this season?
